The final auditions will be held before an audience at L'Astral (Maison du Festival Rio Tinto Alcan) on October 2, beginning at 8 p.m.

The three finalists selected in each category during the preliminary auditions will compete in the final auditions. The candidates chosen for the finals will have to play a piece of their choice (either a composition of their own or an interpretation of another piece) before the Judges' Panel. The participants will be informed of the order in which they are to appear on the actual day of the final auditions. The candidates selected for the final auditions will be notified by phone.

At the final audition, the public will pick the winner of the People’s Choice Award of the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal by identifying the guitarist who impressed them most. Fans will also have the chance to attend a free performance by Benjamin Woods.

• 9:30 p.m.: intermission and audience selection of the Prix du public du Festival International de Jazz de Montréal
• 9:45 p.m.: Free closing concert with Benjamin Woods
• 10:30 p.m.: prizes awarded
